Philosophy

Your Body

Everyone is unique. Whether this is your first baby or you are expanding your family, your emotional and physical experiences play a huge part in your journey through pregnancy and into motherhood.

This is your body. You know it well. Trust what it tells you. As your midwife I will treat your body with the respect it deserves - you are in control of everything. I will guide you with the physiology of birth and making the deep connection between you and your baby.

Your Birth

Birth changes you and those around you.

This is your birth. Every detail is yours to treasure and plan. Birth can be unpredictable; as your midwife I will stand by your side and support you to have a positive birth experience.

Your Choice

Choice is more than a list of options. It is influenced by your experiences, your knowledge and those around you.

This is your journey. Choice is your human right. As your midwife I work in partnership with you and your family, helping you reach an informed decision about every aspect of your care.

My Story

I’m Lisa-Marie, an Independent Midwife in Cambridgeshire offering private midwifery care unto 60 miles from my home. Before coming a private midwife I worked in the NHS as a community midwife. I made the decision to work independently to strike a better work-life balance for my own family, and have the energy I need to offer attentive one-to-one midwifery care to families.

My family are my world. We love spending time together in the great outdoors learning, playing and growing. We parent our children as gently as we can, trying to create a strong emotional bond and being responsive to their needs. It’s hard, but it’s worth it!

I am an NMC registered midwife, a member of the Royal College of Midwives, the Royal College of Nurses, FEDANT, the Association of Radical Midwives, the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers and the Association for Improvements to Maternity Services. I am fully insured to protect you throughout your journey of care with me.

I was editor of Midwifery Matters journal for 4 years and support the work of Peterborough Homebirth Group, Peterborough Maternity Voices Partnership and our local Positive Birth Movement. I passionately believe maternity services in the UK should be woman-centred and have the upmost respect for human rights, freedom of choice and dignity.
